December 2005, Superbrands Romania, run by BDR Associates, starts its activity in Romania, being responsible for the integrity of the programmes developed in Romania and observance of all the Superbrands validation steps & schemes required on all the Seperbrands network member countries, worldwide. December 2005, On the basis of invitation only, addressed by Superbrands Romania, 25 Romanian marketing specialists & opinion leaders (mass media representatives, representatives of the business community in Romania, other opinion leaders) joined and formed the Superbrands Council on voluntary basis. These eminent individuals were invited to grade the list of candidates. Their role was to select and validate the Superbrands on criteria of recognition and reputation.
December 2005, A dedicated team of Superbrands Romania developed a documentary research and elaborated a list of all major brands on the Romanian market (the list includes about 1,800 brands). IMAS provided courtesy support in data gathering and processing during this documentary phase of the programme.
January 2006, a top-of-mind research in all major shops was developed with the help of IMAS.
January 2006, an internet survey was initiated on superbrandsromania.com and the public was able to propose their local and international favourite brands. The internet survey ended on February 13, 2006.
The brands suggested during the on-line survey and also during the top-of-mind research were added at the documentary list of brands operating in Romania and this extended list of brands was evaluated by the Superbrands Council.
February 2006, The independent and voluntary Superbrands Council considered the extended list of brands and members individually rated each brand a score from 1-20. Council members were not allowed to score brands with which they had a direct association or were in direct competition to. The lowest-scoring brands were eliminated at this stage, whilst the highest rated were awarded the Superbrands Status and were validated to be invited to join the programme.
Following the Superbrands Council validation of this shortlist, Superbrands Romania has identified within the shortlist, as a particularity of the Romanian programme, three Superbrands types, in addition to the professional Superbrands category: Icon Superbrands, Aspiration Superbrands and Media Superbrands. All of them have been validated as being Superbrands in Romania.
March - May 2006, Invitation to join the programme was addressed only to the most highly rated brands by the Superbrands Council, standing out through excellence and solid history behind them and looked up to as brand models.
June - September 2006, The Romanian Superbrands team edited the first Superbrands Book in Romania with the help of the Brand Guardian of each Superbrand that kindly accepted to tell its unique story of outstanding success in the Volume One of the Superbrands Romania Book.
October 2006, the first Superbrands Book in Romania was printed in Europe, following Superbrands’ high standards.
16th November 2006, the first Superbrands Trophies in Romania were awarded to 66 exceptional brands within a impressive Tribute Event and Superbrands Book Launch.
December 2006, Superbrands Romania Book presentations with the local media in Iasi, Cluj, Sibiu and Timisoara. (links)
